Great Lakes Energy

Project consisted of the conversion of double circuit 12.5kV line from Boyne City Substation for one-half mile to new accessible riser poles.

The existing overhead double-circuit line requiring reconstruction was highly susceptible to outages from the narrow corridor with dense vegetation. The centerline also crossed a stream, wetlands, and conservancy property. The circuits were reconstructed underground for increased reliability and included twin 1500’ directional bores to cross the sensitive areas. Fused cabinets for all taps and transformers were installed along with fault indicators at critical points.

Engineering services included:

  • Underground system design
  • Staking sheet preparation
  • Construction assembly drawings
  • MDEQ & MDOT permitting
  • RUS 790 Contract documents
